The International Ice Hockey Federation has announced the schedule for men’s hockey at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The tournament will kick off on Wednesday, Feb. 9 with the Russian Olympic Committee taking on Switzerland. The following day, the United States will open their tournament against China and Canada will square off with Germany. The latter match will likely feature a head-to-head between the NHL’s most recent Hart Trophy winners, @Connor McDavid and @Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers.
Some other key games to watch for will be Canada and the United States on Saturday, Feb. 12, and Sweden and Finland on Sunday, Feb. 13.
There will be an off day on Feb. 14 and the quarterfinals will begin on Feb. 16 with qualification games for teams that don’t advance into the playoffs on Feb. 15. The gold medal game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20.
The NHL reached an agreement with the IIFH to send players to participate in the Olympics for the first time since 2016, but, as Frank Seravalli reported earlier this week, the league reserves the right to back out of Beijing.
