WATCH: Erik Karlsson blasts home first goal with Sharks

Finally, Erik Karlsson is on the board.

The former Ottawa Senator blueliner blasted home his first goal with the San Sharks on Saturday evening against the St. Louis Blues.

With San Jose on a second-period power play, Karlsson stepped into a shot at the point and wired it past netminder Chad Johnson:

It took Karlsson 21 games to get his first goal with his new team. His power-play marker actually snaps a 23-game goalless drought dating back to last season.

That’s the lethal shot we remember so vividly from EK. The Swedish rearguard had been struggling to find his game in California, recording just 10 assists to date. He’s amassed 126 goals and 328 points in 647 career NHL games.

This could be exactly what the 28-year-old needs to get going. His goal ignited San Jose on Saturday and it should provide a boost to his personal confidence. The Sharks went on to score two consecutive goals against the Blues, including an Evander Kane tally setup by Karlsson.

Karlsson is much better than what we’ve seen from him so far this season, so look for this blistering shot to get help get him back on the right track.
