The Seattle Kraken announced Wednesday they signed 2023 third-round pick Caden Price to a three-year, entry-level deal worth $908,000 per year.

The native of Saskatoon, Sask., has spent the last three seasons with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. In 62 games this season, Price had 13 goals and 42 assists for 55 points. Through three seasons, the Kraken prospect has 20 goals and 96 assists for 116 points across three seasons with the Rockets.

Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Trudeau wrote about Price soon after the Kraken took Price with the 84th overall pick in last June’s draft.

“Price is a rangy left-handed shot whose strides enable him to throw big hits and pinch on offense. His skating and defensive instincts are strengths that will translate well in the NHL,” Trudeau said. “While Price’s defense and athleticism are intriguing, he has produced plenty of offense for Kelowna in the WHL.”

“His game-to-game play varies, but when Price is on, he can take over and be the best player on any given shift,” Daily Faceoff’s Steven Ellis said. “He’s a strong skater who throws hits with purpose and loves to rush the puck. I loved his play later in the season and think he’ll only get better.”

After defeating the Wenatchee Wild 4-2 in the first round of the WHL Playoffs, the Rockets were eliminated by the Prince George Cougars 4-1 in round two.

Meanwhile, the Kraken failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2023-24, going 34-35-13 with 81 points, sixth in the Pacific Division. They made the postseason for the first time in franchise history last season, defeating the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in seven games before being eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the second round.
