The 2023-24 NHL regular season will be remembered for its epic individual performances, which made for some extremely difficult decisions for voters when it came time to make their selections on the year-end awards last week.

On Thursday the NHL announced its schedule for revealing its award finalists. As a reminder: finalists, not nominees. All the voting is completed before the playoffs begin, with the exception of the Jim Gregory Award for GM of the year, so the trios of finalists for each award represent the top three vote-getters.

The schedule for the finalist announcements are as follows:

Monday, April 29 – Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender
Tuesday, April 30 – Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the best rookie
Wednesday, May 1 – James Norris Memorial Trophy, awarded to the best defenseman
Thursday, May 2 – Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player that best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey
Friday, May 3 – Jack Adams Award, awarded to the best coach
Saturday, May 4 – Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player with the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability
Sunday, May 5 – Frank J. Selke Trophy, awarded to the best defensive forward
Monday, May 6 – Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award, awarded to the individuals who have positively impacted their community, culture or society through the game of hockey
Tuesday, May 7 – Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player in the league
Wednesday, May 8 – Ted Lindsay Award, awarded to the most outstanding player as selected by the NHL Players’ Association

While it’s the finalists being announced over the next two weeks, the winners of each award will have also been determined by then. However, the winner won’t be announced until the awards ceremony, which currently has no set date but will occur in June 2024 after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It’s previously been held either in Las Vegas or where the NHL Draft is also being held, so with the draft being hosted by Las Vegas this year, it’s safe to assume that the awards ceremony will occur there as well.
