The Penguins signed Stuart Percy to a one-year, two-way deal worth $575K.

Percy, 23, was a first round pick (25th overall) in 2011 but was not qualified by the Maple Leafs, so he signed in Pittsburgh. He has only appeared in 12 career NHL games, but has enjoyed a solid AHL career to this point. He had 24 points (4G / 20A) in 58 games with the Marlies last year and will be with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to start 2016-17.

Percy has been recalled and sent down a ton lately, but he still is not expected to be more than an insurance seventh defenseman on the Leafs upcoming two-game road trip.

The Maple Leafs have recalled Stuart Percy from Toronto (AHL).

Percy, 21, was sent down after playing seven games with the Maple Leafs to start the season. He picked up three assists in those seven contests and is now back with the big-club as they prepare for an upcoming three-game road-trip (split by a home game vs. CHI). No word on if Percy will be in the lineup on Friday.

The Maple Leafs have reassigned Stuart Percy to Toronto (AHL).

Percy had three assists in seven games in his brief stint with the Maple Leafs. He had served as healthy scratch in two out of the last four games. This should keep Jake Gardiner permanently.

Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the hockey club has signed 2011 first-round draft choice Stuart Percy to a three year Entry Level contract. Percy, 18, was selected 25th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs on June 24.

Percy figures to stay in the OHL through this year and get a crack at the big club during next year's training camp. The 25th overall pick already registered 17 points through 18 games with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.
