The Canadiens have signed Chris Terry to a one-year contract extension.

Terry, 27, has registered two goals and two assists (four points) in 14 games with the Canadiens this season. He has spent most of his time with St. John’s (AHL), where he leads the team with 50 points (21G / 29A) in 38 games.

Terry was a healthy scratch for five of the last six games and was returned to the AHL and replaced by Jacob De La Rose on Sunday. Terry had four points (2G / 2A) in 14 games with Montreal and goes back to St. John’s where he has 26 points (10G / 16A) in 20 games.

Terry, 27, has spent his entire career with the Hurricanes, after being drafted by them in 2007, but is finally on the move to Montreal, where he will look to land a permanent roster spot. He had just 11 points (8G / 3A) in 68 games last year and has totalled just 34 points (20G / 14A) in 138 career NHL games, so don’t expect him to have a fantasy impact in 2016-17.

The Hurricanes have sent Chris Terry to Charlotte (AHL) on a conditioning stint.

Terry, 25, has totaled four goals and three assists (7 points) in 17 NHL games this season with the Hurricanes. HE ranked tied for sixth in the AHL in scoring in 2013-14 with a career-high 69 points (28g, 41a) in 70 games.

The Hurricanes have recalled Chris Terry from Charlotte (AHL).

Terry has been recalled incase Andrei Loktionov or Jiri Tlusty is unable to play Tuesday -- both forwards left Monday's game with lower-body injuries. Terry has yet to chalk up a point with the Hurricanes this season, but leads Charlotte in assists (38) and is second in goals (28) and points (66) through 63 games.

Terry who was recalled by the Hurricanes on Wednesday, is skating on Carolina's third line and on their top power-play unit.

Terry has one goal in his three career NHL games. He has six goals and four assists in 10 games with Charlotte (AHL) this season. Terry has been given a solid chance to produce on the 'Canes top power-play.
