Tedenby enters the Devils lineup in Ryane Clowe's absence.

Tedenby is expected to skate on the line with Travis Zajac and Michael Ryder when the Devils play at Ottawa tonight. "He’s a good player. He has lots of skills," Zajac said of Tedenby. "He creates space with his speed. I think it’s only going to help us, bringing in some youth and some excitement and some energy."

Tedenby replaces Zubrus on the top line and is now playing with Kovalchuk. This doesn't make him a must add by any stretch but he could be worth a spot start if you are shallow on LW.

Right wing Mattias Tedenby, who left Thursday’s practtice to get needed stitches in his riight ear after being hit with a dump-in, is back out there today. It’s difficult to tell, but there might be a piece of clear plastic by the right ear hole on his helmet to protect his ear.

Last season the former 24th overall pick scored eight goals and 22 points in his rookie season. Don't expect much more as the youngster earns his ice time.

Tedenby was in severe pain as he was assisted off the ice and hurried to the dressing room. He was taken to the hospital for stitches in his ear and is expected to be OK.

Having straightened out that problem, the speedy Swede is ready to get started on his second NHL season. "It's going to be fun with a new coach. I'm in shape," Tedenby said.

Tedenby was benched towards the latter portion of last season for being "out of shape." Currently ranked the number 4 prospect in the system, the shifty winger should be able to pick up some extra offensive-zone minutes following the injury to Travis Zajac.
