Erne (COVID-19) is expected to return to the Red Wings lineup on Wednesday.

Erne has been sidelined on the COVID-19 reserve list since January 16th but is expected to play Wednesday in Tampa Bay. Erne, who started his career with the Lightning has just five points (2G / 3A) in 58 games since joining the Red Wings in 2020.

The Red Wings have signed Adam Erne to a one-year contract extension.

Steve Yzerman brought Erne in from Tampa Bay in the summer of 2019, trading a fourth-round pick in 2020. In his first season with the Red Wings, Erne had just two goals and three assists (five points) in 56 games . Erne is a thick, gritty forward who produced high-end offensive numbers in juniors but it has not translated to the pro-level. He has just 32 points (15G / 17A) in 170 career NHL games.

Erne (upper-body) will be a game-time decision on Thursday.

Erne suffered an upper-body injury in the Red Wings loss in Vancouver on Tuesday but could play Thursday in Calgary. Erne has no points and 11 shots in six games this season, so even if he does end up playing he carries very little to no fantasy value.

The Red Wings have acquired Adam Erne from the Lightning for a 2020 4th Round Pick.

Erne was a second-round pick of the Lightning in 2013 and finished his first full NHL season with 20 points (7G / 13A) in 65 games. Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman is familiar with Erne from his time with Tampa Bay and added the 24-year-old to a team that has a ton of bottom-6 players. Erne will likely open 2020 on their third line.

The Lightning re-signed Adam Erne to a one-year deal worth $800K.

Erne played with both Tampa Bay (NHL) and Syracuse (AHL) for the second straight season. The 23-year-old had three goals and one assist in 23 games with the Lightning and 26 points (12G / 14A) in 41 games with the Crunch. Erne heads into the 2019 season as the 12th or 13th forward in Tampa Bay, unless there is an Erik Karlsson trade that frees up some room on the depth chart.

Erne has been recalled from Syracuse (AHL) and will make his season debut on Thursday.

Erne, who appeared in 26 games with the Lightning last year, has collected 12 goals and 14 assists (26 points) in 41 games with the Crunch this season. Erne will look to follow in the footsteps of fellow Crunch alumni Yanni Gourde and Matthew Peca, who have played well this year. He’ll debut on a line with Vladislav Namestnikov and Cory Conacher.
