In the meantime, look for Ondrej Pavelec to continue manning the crease for the Jets. Mason should remain the backup goalie upon his return, spelling Pavelec every 3-5 games.

The Jets play tomorrow and may recall Peter Mannino from the AHL just to backup Ondrej Pavelec. Through four games, and in a decidedly lessened role, Mason has outplayed his younger counterpart.

Noel said he was “possibly” leaning towards starting Chris Mason against the Rangers on Monday night after the netminder’s strong relief appearance on Saturday

Over four career appearances against the Rangers, Mason holds a 3-0-0 record with a 2.46 GAA and .897 SV%.
