Boyle was back in practice again on Wednesday and practiced on the top pair with Marc Staal as well as taking part in power-play drills, both good signs that he will be in the lineup when the Rangers take on the Avalanche.
Boyle said that there is still pain in his hand and his strength is not quite where he would like it, but he thinks he can play through the pain and still hopes to be back later this week.
Boyle has been out since the season opener with a broken hand, but was back on the ice again on Friday morning and should be back in the lineup next week. With Ryan McDonagh out, getting Boyle back would be huge for the Rangers power-play.
Boyle was on the ice in a no-contact jersey this afternoon, but did not do too much with his broken hand. He remains without a timetable for his return. The Rangers could really use her services after Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein were injury on Saturday.
Boyle, who signed a two-year deal worth $9 million this offseason broke his hand early in the third period of his Rangers debut. He had two shots, two penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 14:01 of playing time before sustaining the injury. New York is back in action on Saturday, expect them to place Boyle on IR and recall a defenseman from Hartford (AHL). Matt Hunwick will likely slide in for Boyle against the Blue Jackets.
Boyle, 37, reportedly turned down more money to go play in New York. There is no doubting his offence, he scored 12 goals with 24 assists (38 points) in 75 games last season, but it is his work in his own end that has come into question. He will likely get paired with Marc Staal, a D-partner that will help cover up his regressing defensive play.
The 37-year-old Boyle is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. The Sharks had already announced that they will not re-sign Boyle and will end up receiving a fourth-round pick should Boyle sign with the Islanders before next season. Boyle earned just under $7 million with the Sharks this season. He led the club's defencemen with 36 points and 12 goals in 75 games and added four assists in San Jose's first-round, seven-game playoff loss to Los Angeles.
Boyle is an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Sharks have announced that they will not be making him a contract offer. The Sharks plan on moving Brent Burns back to the blueline after spending this entire season at forward. Dan Boyle tallied 269 points (68 goals, 201 assists) and a plus-19 rating over six seasons with the Sharks. The veteran defenseman will surely land a multi-year deal with another team.
Boyle has been skating all week and has been cleared to play tomorrow. He missed a total of seven games after suffering a concussion on October 15 vs. St. Louis. Boyle is one of the better defenseman in the NHL so his return to the lineup bolsters the Sharks lineup even further. There has been no word as to who Boyle will be paired with or how many minutes they plan to have him play.
Boyle will miss his seventh straight game tonight. He could potentially return to the Sharks lineup on Saturday versus Phoenix.
Boyle is expected to make his return to the lineup tonight after missing the last six games. We will get an official update from the Sharks following the morning skate, for now consider him a game-time decision.
There was a chance that Boyle could have returned Sunday, so one would think that there is an even better chance for him to be in the lineup tomorrow. He has missed the Sharks last six games with a concussion, San Jose is 4-1-1 in that span. They are atop the NHL standings right now, so the return of one of the NHL's premiere defenseman, will bolster the club's lineup even further. Monitor his status following Wednesday's gameday skate.
There was speculation that Boyle could be ready tonight after missing the last five games with a concussion. The next game Boyle can return is Wednesday vs. Los Angeles.
Saturday was Boyle’s third straight day on the ice as he recovers from an apparent head injury.
There is still no timetable for Boyle's return but this is a positive sign that he is feeling better.

Boyle also remembers waking up on the ice as he was leaving on a stretcher. Boyle was knocked out cold for several minutes early in the first period of the Sharks' 6-2 win over the Blues. This is great news for the Sharks, as it sounds like Boyle will not miss a lot of time.
"I'm OK. That was scary," said Boyle. "Hopefully the symptoms will be very minor if any going forward." Boyle is expected to miss a period of time, how long that will be should be determined once he returns to San Jose.
It appeared as if Boyle hit his face/jaw off of the dasher. It didn't look good, expect an update tomorrow.
