Jochen Hecht News

Hecht says he's 100% healthy and ready to go; Ruff wouldn't confirm that he's being inserted into the lineup tomorrow. #sabres

Hecht would be making his season debut after struggling with concussion-like symptoms since last year's playoffs. The German forward has scored at least 10 goals every season of his career but may be hard pressed to do so playing on a checking line.

"I just developed a little bit of a headache [Thursday], so I just decided to take the day off and see how the day goes," said Hecht, who hasn't played since suffering a concussion on the second day of training camp. "The day went fine without any injuries again. I’m back out again skating."

Hecht is back on the ice after suffering a setback but the team is in no rush to get him back in the lineup. Despite the injury to Tyler Ennis, Matt Ellis has filled in admirably on their third line.

Jochen Hecht's day off "not scheduled," he tells The News. Concussion setback suspected

Hecht has not played in any of the team's nine games this season but began practicing with a line earlier this week. It doesn't sound like he will return any time soon following a setback.

Jochen Hecht was back on the ice while Paul Gaustad and Drew Stafford sat out the skate.

Hecht took line rushes today, filling in for the injured forwards. Considering he had a setback just yesterday, the Sabres are more likely to dress seven defensemen if they need another player.

Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said after practice forward Jochen Hecht is progressing and getting better. Ruff acknowledges that when Hecht is good to go, he'll have a difficult decision as to which forward to pull from the lineup.

When Hecht does return, he likely draws in on a bottom-line role. echt only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Might be a decent add in very deep leagues.

"I don’t think there’s any reason to rule him out right now," Ruff said. "I don’t there’s a good reason to say he could play Friday yet, either. We’re kind of in that situation where you evaluate after each practice. He will do extra after practice and be more involved in some physical stuff, then you wait to see the next day if there’s any ramifications on how he worked."

Hecht could return as soon as this weekend but likely is held out of the lineup a bit longer. Hecht only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Might be a decent add in very deep leagues.

Jochen Hecht is getting healthier for the Sabres, and coach Lindy Ruff said when the center is finally ready to return from his concussion, he has a spot in the lineup waiting.

Dpesn't sound like Hecht is close to returning. Hecht only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Keep him off your radar as this injury sounds long term.

"I’m making progress," said Hecht, who also was sidelined by a concussion last season. "I’ve been skating on my own for a couple days, and today I did the pregame skate with the team, so it’s a step in the right direction.

The Sabres aren't planning on rushing Hecht back just to play in an exhibition game. Hecht only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Keep him off your radar as this injury sounds long term.

The first big bit of news out of practice today is the continued absence of center Jochen Hecht. A cut lip does not force an absence of roughly a week of drills, and that clearly points to a recurrence of concussion symptoms Hecht experienced at the end of last season.

Sounds like Hecht could be out for a bit longer. Hecht only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Keep him off your radar as this injury sounds long term.
