Tomas Fleischmann News

The Blackhawks have acquired Tomas Fleischmann and Dale Weise from the Canadiens for Phillip Danault and a 2018 2nd round pick.

Fleischmann, 31, is a pending unrestricted free agent, so the Blackhawks have acquired him as a rental winger, who will likely play on their third line. The veteran winger has 10 goals and 10 assists (20 points) in 57 games this season and is expected to make his Blackhawks’ debut on Saturday.

The Ducks have acquired Tomas Fleischmann from the Panthers for Dany Heatley and a 2015 3rd round pick.

Fleischmann has scored seven goals with 14 assists (21 points) in 52 games with the Panthers this season. Fleischmann had 56 goals and 72 assists (128 points) in 240 games under Ducks head coach Bruce Bourdreau, when they were both in Washington.

The Capitals have placed John Erskine (upper-body) on injured reserve.

Erskine has yet to play this season because he had been a healthy scratch for the first five games. He must have sustained an injury n practice and the move to IR will allow the Capitals to recall someone who might actually play from the AHL.

John Erskine is expected to return to the lineup after missing the past four games with an upper-body injury he suffered on Oct. 10 against Carolina.

Capitals head coach Adam Oates is glad to have the rugged defensemen back in the mix but plans on easing him back into game action on the third pairing with Steve Oleksy in Winnipeg.
