Kinkaid returns to New Jersey on a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 where he spent six seasons from 2012 to 2019. The 34-year-old played only two NHL games in 2022-23 with both Boston and Colorado and finished the season with a 1-0-0 record, .950 SV%, and 1.37 GAA. He will be entering his 11th NHL season and has a 70-58-21 record career record, .905 SV% and 2.91 GAA with five different teams (NJD, NYR, MTL, BOS, COL).

Kinkaid was 1-0-0 with a 1.37 GAA and .950 SV% in two appearances between Colorado and Boston this season but spent the majority of his 2022-23 in the AHL and has been recalled Tuesday to act as Colorado's third goaltender throughout the playoffs. The 33-year-old played in two NHL playoff games in 2017-18 with New Jersey, struggling mightily with his 0-2-0 record, 5.88 GAA and .804 SV%.

Kinkaid was recently acquired from the Bruins, and could make his Avalanche debut during their back-to-back this weekend. Kinkaid has spent most of the season in the AHL, going 8-7-4 with a 3.10 GAA and .909 SV%.

Kinkaid was merely a spot filler until Jeremy Swayman recovered from an injury and with the announcement that he has rejoined the Bruins, Kinkaid was the odd man out and assigned to Providence (AHL) Wednesday.

It seems Jeremy Swayman's injury from Wednesday is worse than originally hoped as Keith Kinkaid was recalled from Providence of the AHL Wednesday. The Bruins will be the 33-year-olds fourth NHL team as he has amassed 69 wins and a .905 SV% across 167 career games played.

Kinkaid is a New York native, who provides some veteran organizational depth after the buyout of Henrik Lundqvist. Kinkaid spent most of last season in the AHL, where he had an .888 SV% in 17 games with Laval and Charlotte (AHL). Kinkaid has a career .905 SV% in the NHL with the Devils and Canadiens.
