The Blue Jackets have placed Matt Calvert (upper-body) on IR.

Calvert was hurt on Monday vs. the Avalanche and has been placed on IR retroactive to that day, which means he is not eligible to play until November 29th vs. the Lightning. With Calvert on IR, the Blue Jackets recalled Justin Scott from Cleveland (AHL).

Calvert (knee) will return to the Blue Jackets lineup on Saturday.

Calvert has been sidelined with a knee injury since December 29th, but will be back in the lineup on Saturday. Calvert has just six goals and one assist in 39 games this season and is expected to return on the Blue Jackets’ fourth line.

Calvert is out indefinitely with a concussion.

Calvert has reportedly been playing with a concussion that the Blue Jackets originally thought was a neck injury. He had been getting treatment for the injury, but last night Calvert said “felt different.” The doctors then went through concussion protocol and he was diagnosed with a concussion. His injury opens a spot for David Clarkson to slide right in on Saturday.

Calvert (illness) returned to Blue Jackets practice on Wednesday.

Calvert missed the last two games with an illness, but his return to practice this afternoon is a good sign that he will be available on Friday vs. St. Louis. The Blue Jackets went with seven defensemen last night, so Calvert’s return would certainly help the offence.
