The Blue Jackets have acquired Matt Duchene and Julius Bergman from the Senators for Vitali Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, a 2019 first-round pick and a conditional 2020 first-round pick.

Duchene is expected to walk across the hall and make his Blue Jackets debut tonight in Ottawa. It remains to be seen where Duchene will slot into the lineup, but the second line seems like the most reasonable spot. Despite playing for a mostly poor Senators team, Duchene is on-pace to set a new career-high in goals (39) and points (84). The 2019 first-round pick is lottery protected and the Senators will only receive the 2020 pick if Duchene re-signs in Columbus.

Duchene is week-to-week with a groin injury.

The Senators have placed Matt Duchene (lower-body) on IR.

The Senators have yet to provide a detailed injury report on Duchene, who was hurt in Thursday’s game against Montreal. His move to IR means that he will miss at least one week, so the Senators recalled Nick Paul from Belleville (AHL) to replace him on the active roster.

Duchene (illness) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Duchene was listed as questionable on Monday and remains that way as he tries to get over the flu. Duchene missed the morning skate, which isn’t a good sign for his availability but the Senators will see how the afternoon goes. If he can’t play, look for Mark Borowiecki (concussion) to replace him as a seventh defenseman.
