Mike Knuble News

In Friday’s practice at KCI, though, Knuble was working on the right side of a line with Alexander Semin and Marcus Johansson with Cody Eakin rotating in.

Knuble may be moving back up to a scoring line. The grizzled veteran has only two goals and seven points in 24 games in a down season. This move may be the kick he needs.

“I appreciate the reminders of Mike Knuble’s positive play against us,” says Bylsma. “I think he’s scored or been on the scoresheet every game but one in the last couple of years. He’s been a factor and a guy that goes under the radar and maybe hurts us most.

Through 61 career games against the Pens, Knuble scored 30 goals and 45 points. Might be worth a look in single-day leagues HINT HINT.

One familiar unit, that wasn’t used during the preseason at all, seems to be the way Boudreau is leaning for the top line: the combination of Alex Ovechkin with Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Knuble. Granted, this line may depend on when Ovechkin returns from Moscow following the death of his uncle, and his frame of mind as well.

Knuble looks like the early favorite on Alex Ovechkin's RW. Last season he scored 24 goals and 40 points while rotating between the top two lines. Despite his age he should be able to pot 25 goals.
