#NYR morning practice Michael Sauer (shoulder) again is not on the ice

Sauer continues to be day-to-day with his shoulder injury. Look for Jeff Woywitka to make his debut as a Blue Shirt with Sauer sidelined.

With the team not scheduled to play until Saturday, they can afford to rest their wounded players. Expect a further update as the weekend approaches.

With Marc Staal already out, the Rangers will play it safe with Sauer. Last season he scored three goals and 15 points over 76 games with the team. Look for him to be healthy for the team's next game on Saturday, October 15th.

Michael Sauer, whose shoulder injury suffered in the preseason was originally listed as a strain, said after Wednesday's practice that the injury to his shoulder was an AC separation, or a separation of the acromioclavicular joint. But the defenseman reiterated Wednesday what John Tortorella said the night before, that his shoulder feels "good" and that he's "ready to go" for Friday's opener.

With Marc Staal out indefinitely, the team will need Sauer to step up. Last season he scored three goals and 15 points over 76 games with the team. He won't help out your fantasy hockey team as much as help the Rangers keep the puck out of the net.

Sauer skated yesterday, he moved the puck yesterday. He’s still sore. We think with another day off…he will not play in tomorrow’s game (in Slovakia). It’s day to day with him. We think he’s getting better. We want to get him completely better before we put him in.

Sauer missed a good portion of the 2009-10 season with Hartford (AHL) after injuring his left shoulder in late January.

Sauer tweaked his shoulder and will be held out for the rest of the game for precautionary measures. With Marc Staal already injured, the Rangers will keep tabs on their remaining healthy defenders. While Sauer helps his team win games, both Tim Erixon and Michael Del Zotto have a better chance of picking up offensive minutes.

Michael Sauer tells me that he will take part in his first camp scrimmage this afternoon..."gonna give it a twirl!" #NYR

Sauer scored a goal during the scrimmage, so he should be completely healthy. With Marc Staal already sidelined, the Rangers will need to rely on Sauer a lot during the early part of the season.

Mike Sauer (tendinitis right knee) also did not participate in the scrimmage.

With Marc Staal already injured, Sauer will be held out for precautionary measures. While he helps keep pucks out of the net, his fantasy value remains limited.

Mike Sauer says tweaked right knee feeling better but still sore. MRI was clean. Not sure if he'll be able to do Friday's on-ice testing.

Sauer holds limited offensive potential but helps keep the puck out of the net for Henrik Lundqvist's Rangers. Considering the MRI was deemed clean, he should be playing by the end of training camp.
