So far this season, Luongo has stopped 45 of 47 shots (.958 SV%) and makes for a decent option against an Oilers team that will be playing their eighth game in 13 days.

Head coach Bob Boughner said the plan for Luongo is to “play next week when we get home.” Look for Reimer to start Thursday and potentially Michael Hutchinson on Friday.

Luongo hasn't played since suffering an MCL injury in the Panthers' season opener. The 39-year-old net-minder posted an impressive .929 SV% in 35 appearances for Florida last season. While he is the number one goalie on their depth chart, Luongo should continue to regularly concede starts to backup James Reimer when he returns to the lineup. Reimer has struggled so far this season, registering a 0-2-1 record and a .867 SV% in four appearances.

Luongo got tangled up with teammate Frank Vatrano while trying to make a save on Saturday and was forced to leave the game with a right knee injury. Luongo will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but early indications are that it is not serious. James Reimer will take over as the Panthers’ No.1 and Michael Hutchinson will be recalled to replace Luongo while he is out.
