Ryan Dzingel News

Dzingel (lower-body) will play in the Hurricanes season opener.

It originally looked like Dzingel would miss the first few games of the season with a lower-body injury that he suffered in the preseason. However, Dzingel was back at practice on Wednesday and is skating on the third line prior to Thursday’s season opener. He had 26 goals and 30 assists (56 points) last year and will skate with Erik Haula and Jordan Martinook in his Hurricanes debut.

The Blue Jackets have acquired Ryan Dzingel and a 2019 seventh-round pick from the Senators for Anthony Duclair, a 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick.

Dzingel has enjoyed a breakout season, scoring 22 goals and 22 assists (44 points) in 57 games. Dzingel brings a ton of speed to the Blue Jackets lineup and could lineup with Matt Duchene, who was also acquired from Ottawa on Friday. Dzingel has played 52.5 percent of his 5v5 minutes with Duchene this season and the duo has averaged 27 ScoringChancesFor/60.

The Senators have placed Ryan Dzingel (lower-body) on injured reserve.

Dzingel was a game-time decision for the last two games, but it looks like the lower-body injury has finally caught up to him. Dzingel lands on IR, so he will miss at least one week. Nick Paul was recalled from Belleville (AHL) to take Dzingel’s spot on the roster.

The Senators are “very hopeful” that Dzingel (undisclosed) will play on Wednesday.

Dzingel was a game-time decision on Monday, but ended up playing and scoring two goals. He was not on the ice again this morning, so he’s questionable for tonight’s meting with the Flyers. It sounds like it is a very similar situation to Monday and the young winger should be expected to play.

The Senators signed Ryan Dzingel to a one-year, two-way contract.

Dzingel, 24, split the 2015-16 campaign between Ottawa and Binghamton (AHL). His 30 games with Ottawa were the first 30 games of his NHL career and he tallied three goals with six assists. In his time with the the “Baby Sens” he picked up 36 points (12G / 24A) in 44 contests. Dzingel figures to be in the Senators opening day roster.
