Simon Gagne News

Anyway, to the relevant matter, Gagne will miss his fourth consecutive game tonight and has been off the ice for a week. For a player with a long history of concussions, that’s not a good sign. Neither is the fact that Sutter was unable to offer any real update on Gagne’s progress.

Gagne is likely out for an exorbitant amount of time due to this most recent concussion. The veteran has been sidelined with concussions numerous times in his career and definitely holds the injury-prone label. He has seven goals and 17 points over 34 games.

Sutter had no update on Simon Gagne, other than to say that Gagne was “progressing” and getting off-ice therapy.

Good news to hear that Gagne is progressing. However, the veteran will likely remain out of the lineup for a significant period of time.

Simon Gagne, who didn’t play in the third period, got “a little banged up” early in the game, according to coach Darryl Sutter. Sutter didn’t elaborate, other than to say that Gagne would be evaluated again tomorrow before the Kings’ flight to Chicago.

With Gagne's injury history, it would not be surprising for the scoring winger to miss a few games. The Ste-Foy, Que. native scored seven goals and 17 points through 34 games.

Simon Gagne is back on the ice for practice this morning, in his regular spot on the first line.

Gagne returned to the top line and should be able to play on Thursday, when the Kings host the Oilers. The team gained one point over their two games without him.

Simon Gagne’s day off the ice yesterday, it turns out, was more than a “maintenance day.” Gagne won’t play tonight, because of an injury that Terry Murray did not disclose.

As an injury-prone forward, Gagne has missed 43 games over the last two seasons. If past history is any indication, he probably misses a few games.

Gagne, I didn’t plan on that [him playing with Kopitar] when we started the training camp. The move came with a couple of games left in the exhibition season. There seemed to be some nice chemistry.

Gagne has one assist through his first two games as a King. He certainly seems to be helping out Anze Kopitar in the early going, which leads to the team not changing anything up. Look for him to return to the 60-point range if he sticks on the top line over a full season.

Simon Gagne, who missed practice yesterday because of flu symptoms, is back on the ice for today’s morning skate. Gagne is trading drills with Brad Richardson as the left winger with Mike Richards and Dustin Brown, but Terry Murray said yesterday that Gagne won’t play tonight

Sounds like Gagne is back and close to full strength. Last season, the injury-prone winger scored 17 goals and 40 points in 63 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He should be able to improve on those totals playing a full season with Mike Richards.

Simon Gagne did not practice today because of flu symptoms, but everyone else is expected to participate.

Scott Parse took his place on the left side of Mike Richards and Dustin Brown. Expect Gagne to return in a few days, obviously before the start of the season.

The Kings quickly found their Plan B, as they agreed to terms with winger Simon Gagne to a two-year contract. It’s a two-year, $7-million deal that, in cash terms, will pay Gagbe $4.5 million next season and $2.5 million in 2012-13, but the salary-cap hit is $3.5 million each season.
