Tobias Rieder News

Rieder (lower-body) is questionable for Thursday’s game.

Rieder missed the Coyotes’ morning skate because of a lower-body injury, making him questionable for tonight’s game vs.the Predators. Monitor Rieder’s status leading up to puck-drop—he has five points (2G / 3A) in nine games this season.

Rieder cleared up his work visa and will play in the Coyotes’ season opener on Saturday.

Rieder had not skated with the Coyotes since signing his two-year extension two weeks go. On Wednesday, he got back on the ice and skated on the Coyotes’ second line with Christian Dvorak and Anthony Duclair. Rieder played well in the World Cup of Hockey and could be poised for a breakout year in the Arizona top-6.

The Coyotes have signed Tobias Rieder to a two-year deal worth $4.45 million (2.225M AAV).

The Coyotes and Rieder have been negotiating for months and for awhile it looked as if Rieder was headed to the KHL. Rieder is coming off of a 37-point (14G / 23A) in 82 games last year and figures to be a key member of the Coyotes’ young top-6 in 2016-17. He is worth a late-round flier in drafts this October.
