Trevor van Riemsdyk News

The Hurricanes have acquired Trevor van Riemsdyk and a 7th round pick from the Golden Knights for a 2nd round pick.

After being selected in the expansion draft yesterday, it was rumoured that van Riemsdyk could be on the move before Friday’s draft and Carolina is where he ends up. The 25-year right shot defenseman was limited to 58 games in 2016-17, but set a career-high with 16 points (5G / 11A). TVR is just scratching the surface offensively and should be a key member of an already talented Hurricanes’ blueline.

van Riemsdyk left Friday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return; doubtful for Saturday.

van Riemsdyk was set to face-off against his brother James tonight vs. the Maple Leafs, but he was spotted wearing a sling this morning after leaving last night’s game. Sporting a sling usually suggests a fairly serious injury and it will almost certainly keep him out of tonight’s contest.

The Blackhawks have reassigned Trevor van Riemsdyk to Rockford (AHL).

van Riemsdyk has been out since November 16th, but has been practicing as of late and his return to the AHL means that he is ready to return to game action. He will likely stay with Rockford until he is back up to game-speed and then should switch spots with Kyle Cumiskey.

van Riemsdyk (knee) joined his teammates for Friday's morning skate.

van Riemsdyk, who has been sidelined with a left patella fracture since November 16th, had been limited to skating on his own, but joined his teammates for the first time this morning. The 23-year-old is just over three months into a 3-4 month timetable, so it appears as if he is progressing well.
