2009-10 Eastern Conference All-Stars

There’s no official NHL All-Star game this year because of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver but we still left the vote up to you!  Voting ended at the end of January and we’ve tallied up the results for the Eastern Conference All-Star team.

Your 2009-10 Eastern Conference starting lineup:

Alexander Ovechkin – 92%

Just pencil him in for every All-Star game until he retires.  Despite missing 8 games with injuries and suspensions, Ovechkin has a commanding 8-point and 3-goal lead in the scoring race with a whopping +41 – not to mention a league-leading 28 powerplay points.

Sidney Crosby – 87%

Sid the Kid has already tied his career-high in goals and is filling in the missing offensive gap left by a struggling Evgeni Malkin (by his standards).  Crosby trails Ovechkin by 3 goals for the Rocket Richard Trophy and ranks 4th with 10 powerplay goals.

Marian Gaborik – 83%

Amazing what a healthy season can do.  Gaborik is showing this year why he’s a top sniper in the league with 65 points through 54 games by the end of January.  He’s currently ranked 6th in scoring, 2nd in powerplay goals, and 4th in goals – it’s been a while since we’ve seen a Ranger pull off numbers like that.

Mike Green – 85%

Arguably the best offensive defenseman in the league, Green is matching his point-per-game pace he set last year and amassing a +25 rating on top of it.  He leads all defensemen in scoring and powerplay points in another bid for a Norris Trophy.

Zdeno Chara – 76%

What’s he doing here?  Chara is ranked 10th in scoring in arguably his slowest season of recent years.  He’s only registered a +4 rating on a Boston team that has struggled to only 24 wins in 54 games thus far.

Ryan Miller – 82%

The league leader in save percentage and top-5 in GAA and shutouts, Miller is at the top of his game.  Contributing greatly to Buffalo’s success so far this season, Miller is emerging as a premier Vezina candidate.
