Andrei Markov waiting for diagnosis on knee
No news yet out of the Canadiens’ camp but the original diagnosis does not look good. Markov could miss anywhere between a game and the entire season, according to conflicting reports. Suffice to say he will not be in the lineup tonight.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov could miss up to three months after re-injuring his surgically repaired knee on Saturday night. The often-injured defenseman only played seven games so far and had a goal and two assists and a plus-2 rating.
According to Pat Hickey of Habs Inside/Out it will take a few days to know the exact extent of the injury:
While it will be several days before doctors can make a complete diagnosis, there are unconfirmed reports that defenceman Andrei Markov could be out of the lineup for as long as three months.
Markov suffered an injury to his surgically repaired right knee Saturday night when he had a knee-to-knee collision with Carolina’s Eric Staal as they chased a puck into the corner. Markov’s knee hit the board but it appeared that any damage had been done before then. He threw his gloves off immediaterly after the contact and punched the boards and he lay writing on the ice. Two teammates assisted him off the ice and he wasn’t putting any weight on his left leg.
For the time being the Habs will use Alexandre Picard as their depth will truly be tested. The team could also choose to call-up Yannick Weber, Brendon Nash, Frederic St. Denis or Mathieu Carle.
