Andrei Markov slated for October return

Andrei Markov slated for October return

According to Renaud Lavoie of RDS, Andrei Markov will return to the lineup in October.  This news bodes well for the team and likely for anyone who drafted the often-injured defenseman.

Last season, Markov’s injuries let both PK Subban and Marc-Andre Bergeron step up in Montreal.  Subban looks to be the  main beneficiary of his ailments and should see more playing time in all situations due to it.  The Canadiens’ blue chip prospect holds a point-per-game ratio in his two career NHL games, a pace he should be unable to keep despite his wonderkind status.  However, in deeper leagues he deserves a look.

In only 45 games last year, Markov managed a healthy 34 points which effectively showed he could produce and make up for lost time.  Those who took him this season will hope for the same when he returns sometime during the season’s first month.
