BREAKING: Peverley collapses, Stars vs. Blue Jackets game Postponed

Rich Peverley, who missed the first couple games of the regular season after undergoing a procedure for an irregular heartbeat, collapsed on the bench in the early stages of Monday’s game in Dallas.

Peverley also missed last Tuesday’s game with an irregular heartbeat. When he collapsed, Stars players frantically tried to draw the attention of the officials, once the Blue Jackets bench became aware of the situation, they joined in. When play was stopped, both teams went to the dressing room while Peverley was tended to.

Peverley is now conscious and receiving treatment at a local hospital, however the game has been postponed. As you could imagine, both teams’ players and staff are shaken by what has taken place and continuing the game would not be the right decision.

The game was stopped with 13:37 left in the first period. A decision on when they will finish the game will be made at a later date.

The thoughts and prayers of DailyFaceoff are with Peverley, his family and the Stars at this time.

When the game is re-scheduled, we will let you know.
