Bruins Sign Miroslav Satan

Bruins Sign Miroslav Satan
Satan-(Pens-Jersey)

Once a prolific scorer, Miroslav Satan, 35, has been reduced to a declining veteran with very little game left in him.  Didn’t we say the same thing about Paul Kariya, 35, Bill Guerin, 39, and Vaclav Prospal, 34 – all players who are helping the majority of fantasy teams this season.

Satan has topped the 60-point mark in 3-straight seasons with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins after averaging 67 points in his previous 7 seasons with the Islanders and Buffalo Sabres.

When put in the right environment, however, Satan could help your fantasy team.  The winger has 3 stellar centres to work with (provided he doesn’t get shunned to the 4th line again like Pittsburgh) and will be a vast improvement over top-line LW, Steve Begin (3 points in his last 23 games).  Blake Wheeler (5 points in his last 15 games), Michael Ryder (2 points in his last 9 games), and Daniel Paille (4 points in his last 20 games) haven’t fared much better.  Keep Satan on your radar when he starts to see regular playing and powerplay time.

When Milan Lucic went down with an ankle injury on November 26, it dealt a blow to the Bruins depth at the winger spot.  Lucic, activated off the IR this past week, will make his return soon.
