The Colorado Avalanche has suffered a huge blow to their lineup.

Forward Gabriel Landeskog has undergone surgery on his knee and is out indefinitely, The Athletic’s Peter Baugh reported Saturday. The injury is described as a “nagging injury,” and the club is hopeful he is able to return for the stretch run.

Avs head coach Jared Bednar also announced defenceman Samuel Girard is out four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Both injuries are without a doubt a significant blow to one of the best teams in the league. Landeskog has been in the midst of his most productive career in the NHL scoring 30 goals and 59 points in 51 games. His goals for per game (.59) and points per game (1.16) are both career highs.

Girard, meanwhile, has been having a strong season for the Avalanche, too. In 56 games, he’s scored five goals and 27 points.

The Avalanche have 22 games remaining in their regular season schedule.
