A wild story coming out of Columbus Thursday afternoon.

The team will be without their two regular goaltenders, Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo, as they take on the Stars due to non-COVID related illnesses.

And now, all signs point to them starting Daniil Tarasov, who the team recalled from the AHL.

Tarasov, 22, would be making his NHL debut under the most unusual circumstances. He’s appeared in 15 AHL games over the last two seasons posting a 9-4-3 record, a .896 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against average.

According to The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline, Tarasov is expected to land in Dallas around 2 p.m. CST ahead of their 5:30 p.m. CST puck drop.
