Daily Faceoff Show: If Rask returns, where does he fit with the Bruins?

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has begun skating at the team’s practice facility.
Rask was spotted at Bruins practice facility ahead of practice on Monday, as Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli noted during The Daily Faceoff Show Tuesday, and it begs the question: who is the odd man out?
Rask is currently rehabbing from offseason surgery and at 34-years-old, doesn’t currently have a contract, but has made it clear the only place he wants to play is in the black and gold.

— Joe Giza (@JoeGiza) November 8, 2021McKenna: I think it’s with Swayman, and it’s based on experience. Ullmark is a pretty proven commodity in the NHL. I still like Ullmark. He’s a steady goalie in the NHL and Swayman just needs reps. I look at Swayman, he plays so wide, he gots locked in. I think teams have clued in on how to beat him: get him moving laterally, get the puck to the middle ice and get it on net right away — and I think he just needs seasoning. He played just 10 games in the NHL last year. It’s a tiny sample size. Was he lights out? Yeah, it’s small. He played nine games in the American Hockey League. 19 total pro games coming into the year for Swayman, he needs more time to develop — I don’t think he’s quite ready for the NHL load.
If Rask can come back, this is a guy who is going to make a huge difference for the team. We don’t have to go over his accolades. 300 wins, .921 save percentage. I think Boston fans beat me up pretty good for having them 28th in tandems this year. I do think they need better goaltending, period. Boston is four points out of the playoffs, 14th in the Eastern Conference. Four or five more saves, Frank, and this is a team that would be on the cusp of playoffs. They just haven’t gotten goaltending this season.
