Daily NHL betting guide: January 25

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2021-22 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

NHL MODEL PICKS

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via PointsBet), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

All “Recommended Bets” are 1 unit wagers.

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

Model’s Picks

Proceed with Caution ⚠️

The model is recommending two bets this evening but both come with their own set of circumstances that are affecting the betting lines.

Vegas Golden Knights (@ CAR)

In this situation, the Golden Knights are on the back-end of a back-to-back and are expected to start Laurent Brossoit for the first time since January 2nd. Additionally, they will be without Reilly Smith, who was added to the COVID-19 protocol list yesterday. They could get some reinforcements with Max Pacioretty and Alec Martinez on the trip, but it’s unclear whether or not they will play.

Vancouver Canucks (vs. EDM)

The model sees the Canucks as a healthy roster but the truth is they will be without J.T. Miller, Bo Horvat, Conor Garland and Jaroslav Halak. They may get Thatcher Demko back, which would be huge, but not enough to convince me that they are worth the -131 risk.

Tyler Yaremchuk’s Picks

Game Pick

Nashville Predators win in regulation vs. Seattle Kraken (-115)

Chasing a better payout by taking the Preds in regulation, but I really like their chances of winning tonight in Seattle. Nashville has won two in a row heading into this one and it’s been a solid road team with a record 13-7-3 this season. The Kraken are under .500 on home ice, with 9 regulation losses in 15 games. Rolling with the Preds tonight! I’m also taking the Oilers team total over 3.5 (+105) against Vancouver. I think the Oilers’ offense is going to keep heating up.

Prop Pick

Brady Tkachuk over 0.5 assists vs. Sabres (+135)

Chasing another solid payout today as Brady and the Sens take on the Sabres. The Sabres have allowed 16 goals in their last five games and the Sens have scored 16 in their last five. I think Ottawa can get a few tonight after scoring just one against Buffalo a week ago. Brady has four assists in his last six games as well.
