Stars vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -150 Favorites

The Stars drew first blood in winning the series opener over the Golden Knights 1-0 on Sunday to cash as +140 underdogs. Game 2 on Tuesday will likely have a similar number, as early action had already seen Vegas bet up to -165 as of Tuesday morning.

The Golden Knights figure to go with Robin Lehner between the pipes even though surprise Game 1 starter Marc-Andre Fleury did an admirable job after surrendering the first goal at the 2:36 mark of the first period. Fleury made 24 saves, which is one less than counterpart Anton Khudobin, who earned his first career postseason shutout for the Stars. Dallas defenseman John Klingberg netted the lone goal and helped shut down a Vegas offense that has really struggled over the past four games, with the UNDER going 4-0. The Golden Knights have managed to score only two regular-strength goals during that stretch while adding two empty-netters in the series-clinching Game 7 against the Vancouver Canucks last Friday.

The Stars have also seen the UNDER cash in two of their previous three games following an 6-0 OVER run, as they have gotten back to doing what they do best – being physical and playing outstanding defense. Dallas was just a notch below the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues a year ago, and the team is proving itself as a legitimate title contender again this postseason. That said, Vegas bounced back from losing Game 1 of the 2018 Western Conference Final to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 by winning four straight games and advancing to the Stanley Cup Final. Can the Golden Knights rebound here?
