DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (January 17th)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions narrowly missed out on a perfect outing on Wednesday. Philadelphia beating a +1.5-goal spread at home against the Bruins was Corsica’s most probable bet at 67.83%. The Flyers did not disappoint, riding a Sean Couturier hat-trick to a 4-3 victory. The most valuable bet was pegged to be the Sens and Avalanche finishing with less than 6.5 goals. This bet looked destined to hit before Matt Duchene tacked on a needless empty-netter against his old team, making it a 5-2 final.

Still in search of its first perfect night of the week, Corsica takes aim at tonight’s seven-game slate. I’ve highlighted their most valuable and probable bets below. You can check out predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Maple Leafs @ Lightning – Over/Under | Under 6.5 (+119)

Goaltending was the story the last time these two teams met, and Corsica is expecting more of the same tonight. In one of the most remarkable performances of the season, Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 48 of 49 shots on route to a 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs on December 13. Vasilevskiy will be eager for a repeat performance tonight after shutting out the Stars on Tuesday. The Leafs will counter with Frederik Andersen in goal. Andersen will look to get back into form tonight after struggling in his return from injury against the Avalanche on Monday. He owns a .922 SV% and a 2.55 GAA on the season.

Along with spectacular goaltending, the even-strength line matching should help keep goal scoring to a minimum in this one. Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov will be matched up against John Tavares and Mitch Marner for most of the night. The head-to-head matchup should stop either duo from going off and keep the score within reason. Both teams also kill penalties at an above-average rate, so its unlikely either power-play runs up the score. Corsica gives this game a 60.37% chance of hitting the under.

Highest Probability

Blackhawks @ Rangers – Spread | CHI +1.5 (-230)

If you’re looking for the safest bet you can make on tonight’s slate, Corsica advises you to look at the Blackhawks at MSG. Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton has finally reunited Alex DeBrincat and Jonathan Toews on Chicago’s top line. The Blackhawks are averaging 66 shot attempts and 32 scoring chances per 60 with Toews and DeBrincat on the ice. They will acquire the attention of the Mika Zibanejad line, allowing Patrick Kane to see some cushier matchups at 5v5.

The 5v5 matchups look promising for the Hawks, but special teams are where this game really starts to tilt in Chicago’s favour. Over the last month, no team has had a better power-play than the Chicago Blackhawks. Since December 17, the Hawks have converted on 14 of their 40 power-play opportunities (35.0%). They’re in a great spot to keep things rolling tonight against a lackluster Rangers’ penalty-kill. The Rangers own the sixth-worst PK% in the league at 77.1%. Corsica gives Chicago a 73.09% chance of beating the spread and a 50.82% chance of wining outright.
