DailyFaceoff DFS Value Plays – March 27th
Lack-Eddie

There are six games tonight, which is rather busy for a Monday. The Red Wings are in the middle of and unprecedented three games in three nights as they face a Hurricanes team that is still fight to keep their season alive. They are battling with the Lightning and Islanders, who are both also in action tonight. It will be a huge night for the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

I get a lot of help from our friends at SaberSim when I do these for you and you should start your FREE 7-day Trial right now because their lineup tool is so easy to use and has helped me and many others cash in big this season.

This Cheat Sheet includes DraftKings salaries as well as SaberSim dfs projections. These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Rather, the projections represent what a player’s performance would look like on average if that particular matchup were played over and over again. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent the average of those possibilities for each player.

Ivan Barbashev (C) – vs. ARI – $2,800
SaberSim Projection: 2.03

Barbashev is a total shot in the dark, but at $2,800 he allows you to fill-out the roster with a number of high-priced options. Barbashev has posted big offensive numbers at lower levels, including 95 points in his final QMJHL season and 37 points (19G / 18A) in 46 games with the Chicago Wolves before being called up. The Russian centre does not shoot a lot, but has two goals and three assists (five points) in his last six games. With Paul Stastny out, Barbashev has taken on a bigger PP role and his line with Zach Sanford and Nail Yakupov/Magnus Paajarvi has been playing really well in his last two weeks and the Blues have a strong matchup vs. the Coyotes.

Nick Schmaltz (W) – @ TBL – $4,400
SaberSim Projection: 2.09

The Blackhawks have not played well as of late, resulting in head coach Joel Quenneville shuffling the lines this morning. Schmaltz will skate on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Richard Panik tonight, a line that has a lot of success together. That trio has a 54.2 CF% together at even-strength and have scored 14 goals while only allowing three.

Andreas Athanasiou (W) – @ CAR – $4,100
SaberSim Projection: 2.37

Athanasiou scored the game-winner last night and now has 17 goals and 10 assists (27 points) on the season. He is an electrifying forward, who is seeing a bit more playing time recently. The 22-year-old speedster comes into play with three goals and three assists (six points) in his last nine games. His salary doesn’t accurately represent his talent level, making him a good value option.

Dmitry Kulikov (D) – vs. FLA – $3,100
SaberSim Projection: 1.49

Kulikov had just one goal and one assist in his first 39 games of the season and doubled that scoring a goal with an assist in Saturday’s win over the Maple Leafs. With Rasmus Risotlainen suspended and both Cody Franson and Taylor Fedun hurt, Kulikov played 23:55 TOI on Saturday and saw time on the top power play unit. With that kind of usage and an opportunity to take on the team that traded him, Kulikov has a lot of potential tonight.

Eddie Lack (G) – vs. DET – $7,700
SaberSim Projection: 4.30

Detroit is one of the lowest scoring teams in the NHL (25th) and they come in on a back-to-back, having to travel from Detroit to Carolina following an OT win over the Wild yesterday. Lack also comes in riding a four-game winning streak, where he has posted a 1.25 GAA and .954 SV%. He’s been red-hot since being called out by his head coach and is a great goalie start tonight.
