Dan Cleary gets his bell rung, not significant injury

Cleary’s injury has been diagnosed as insignificant as the forward simply “got his bell rung.”  We should have more news shortly on whether he will miss any playing time

Dan Cleary left last night’s 5-4 win over the Calgary Flames during the second period and would not return. The 32-year-old has been diagnosed as out with an upper-body injury after a hit from Flames defenseman Mark Giordano.

As of right now there is no assesment on his health.  Cleary also was shaken up earlier in the game by an open-ice hit from Craig Conroy, so the injury could have happened even earlier.

Cleary has been one of the hottest players on the Red Wings, putting together a six game scoring streak and scoring at a career-high pace.  Through his first 18 games, the right wing has nine goals and 14 points.
