DFS Lines to Target: 01/21/20

It’s a rather quiet Tuesday night in the NHL with only five games on the slate. Many teams are on a bye week as we approach the NHL All-Star break. I’ve highlighted my three favorite stacks — all in the mid-priced range — to help you out. Best of luck!

Medium-Priced

Pittsburgh 1 – Dominik Simon ($3,200), Sidney Crosby ($7,500), Patric Hornqvist ($5,000)

It’s hard to find a better stack than Pittsburgh 1 tonight when you consider Sidney Crosby has dominated the Flyers in his career. Crosby, who has three goals and eight points in four games since returning from injury, has gone off for 42 goals and 102 points in 68 career games vs. the Flyers. Hornqvist and Simon add solid value to this stack, as Simon has two goals and two assists in his last four games, while Hornqvist has four points in his last seven.

The Flyers will be relying on a line of Joel Farabee, Sean Couturier and Jake Voracek to try and slow down this trio. Farabee is the new addition here, as Couturier and Voracek have posted a solid 52.33 CF% when together this season. Simon and Crosby own an even better 56.27 CF%, and even if Couturier shuts them down at five-on-five, each player in this stack has upside playing on the power play.

NYI 1 – Anders Lee ($5,600), Mathew Barzal ($5,900), Jordan Eberle ($4,700)

It’s another New York vs. New York rivalry game tonight, and the Islanders top line will see a mix of the Rangers’ top nine. Lee, Barzal and Eberle own a 55.33 CF% and hold a five-on-five advantage over every one of the Rangers’ top three lines. Barzal is up to 40 points in 48 games, while Lee is coming off a big outing against Carolina where he scored the team’s lone goal and fired eight shots on goal. Eberle has been productive of late with three goals and five points in his last five games.

The added value for this stack comes on the power play. All these players listed play on the top unit and will be up against a Rangers’ PK that is only operating at 79 percent efficiency. There’s a great chance this Isles’ trio gets on the board tonight at even-strength or on the power play against Rangers’ young netminder Alexandar Georgiev.

Carolina 1 – Andrei Svechnikov ($5,900), Jordan Staal ($4,700), Nino Niederreiter ($4,000)

Carolina’s top line will be matched up against Winnipeg’s Connor, Scheifele and Laine line tonight. This Jets’ trio has struggled at five-on-five this season with a 46.05 CF%, while Svechnikov and Staal own a dynamic 57.12 CF% together this season. Niederreiter was recently moved up onto this line and picked up an assist to go with three shots on goal in the Canes’ last outing against the Islanders.

The Jets come into this game with the fourth-worst PK percentage in the NHL, so that’s where Svechnikov (PP1) and Niederreiter (PP2) really earn their value. Svechnikov has picked up 15 of his 43 points with the man advantage, while Nino has contributed eight power-play points. Winnipeg will be turning in goal to Connor Hellebuyck, who has allowed nine goals in his last two starts.
