CENTRES
STEVEN STAMKOS – VS. DAL ($8,900)
Stamkos has been a scoring machine as of late, posting eight goals with three assists (11 points) in his last 10 games. Tonight he faces a Stars team who don’t really play a lot of quality defence.
JOHN TAVARES – @ FLA ($8,800)
Tavares has picked up seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in his last 11 games, which now has him tied for the league lead in points. JT is scorching hot and hey, Dan Ellis is starting for Florida, so that’s good.
NICKLAS BACKSTROM – VS. BUF ($5,400)
Backstrom has a share of the NHL scoring lead with Tavares and he would obviously benefit if Alex Ovechkin (game-time decision) plays, but he should be a strong option regardless against the Sabres.
CRAIG SMITH – VS. WPG ($5,400)
Smith has seven goals and four assists (11 points) in his last 11 games. A point-per-game pace warrants some one-day consideration at $5,400. The Jets are really banged up and the Predators need a W in the worst way, so expect a big game from Smith.
ANDERS LEE – @ FLA ($5,000)
Playing with Tavares has been unreal for Lee. He has three goals, one assist and 18 shots in his last five games. In 82 games over the last two seasons, Lee has 31 goals and 18 assists, pretty impressive from the 24-year-old.
DAVID DESHARNAIS – @ ARI ($4,500)
Desharnais had two assists on Thursday, giving him nine points (2G / 7A) in his last nine games. Despite having a grew couple weeks, he remains a cheap option at $4,500. He will play with sniper Max Pacioretty against Mike Smith who would probably have a rough time stopping a basketball this season.
WINGERS
ALEX OVECHKIN – VS. BUF ($9,300)
Ovechkin is a game-time decision tonight, but with an unreal matchup, you have to consider him. Are you feeling risky? He is a competitor so he will want to be in the lineup as he takes aim at 50 goals—he has 43 in 65 right now.
MAX PACIORETTY – @ ARI ($8,400)
Pacioretty has collected six goals, three assists and 41 shots in his last 10 games. He is Montreal’s best goal scorer and if you read the harsh comment I put about Mike Smith, you can see why I like Pacioretty.
RYAN CALLAHAN – VS. DAL ($5,500)
Callahan has goals in consecutive games and has scored in four of his last six games. He has a reasonable price tag and I like him paired with Stamkos against Jhonas Enroth and the Stars.
FILIP FORSBERG – VS. WPG ($4,800)
Forsberg is playing with Craig Smith, making them a nice Nashville stack against an injury ravaged Jets team. Michael Hutchinson has posted a .906 SV% in his last five games, so Forsberg has that going for him, despite not scoring a goal in his last five games.
JOSH BAILEY – @ FLA ($4,200)
Bailey is still playing with Tavares and Lee, a line that should take advantage of a Panthers blue line who could be without rookie sensation Aaron Ekblad. Ellis in goal should provide little resistance for the Islanders top line.
DEFENSEMEN
TYSON BARRIE – @ CBJ ($5,200)
Woah! Barrie has four goals and five assists (9 points) in his last eight games. Not bad for a defensemen eh? Curtis McElhinney has been strong for CBJ, but if you’re going to take an Avalanche player, Barrie is your guy.
ANDREI MARKOV – @ ARI ($5,000)
As you can tell, I love the Canadiens against the Coyotes tonight. Montreal has lost three in a row, so they will be pressing for a win tonight to close out their California trip at 1-2-1. Markov has one goal and seven assists in his last nine games.
ANTON STRALMAN – VS. DAL ($3,600)
I’m also intrigued by the Lightning at home vs. Dallas. It is hard to pick between Stralman, Victor Hedman or Jason Garrison, so my tie-breaker was to take the cheapest one.
GOALIES
BRADEN HOLTBY – VS. BUF ($9,000) – LIKELY
Holbty has gone 2-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and .946 SV% in three starts in March. Holtby is having a career-year and tonight he takes on the Sabres…So you know what to do!
PEKKA RINNE – VS. WPG ($8,600) – CONFIRMED
Rinne has lost four in a row while recording a 3.67 GAA and .882 SV%. He will look to break the slump tonight vs a banged up Jets team. RInne is 23-6-1 with a 2.03 GAA and .926 SV% at home.
MICHAL NEUVRITH – @ FLA ($7,900) – CONFIRMED
Nevirth went 7-17-3 with a 2.99 GAA and .918 SV% with the Sabres before being traded to the Islanders at the deadline. While those are less than sexy numbers, he managed to go 3-4-2 with a 2.28 GAA and .938 SV% in February. Now with the Islanders, it is safe to say he will have some more goal support.
