Edmonton Oilers acquire Mike Green for Kyle Brodziak, pick

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Mike Green from the Detroit Red Wings.

The Wings will receive Kyle Brodziak, who has been on LTIR all season, and a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2020 that could become a third in 2021.

Green, a UFA at season’s end, has played in 48 games scoring three goals and another eight assists playing just over 21 minutes a night. Detroit will retain 50 percent of Green’s $5.375-million cap hit.

The condition on the draft pick requires the Oilers to make the conference final and for Green, who waived his no-move clause to go to Edmonton, to play in half the remaining games.

Brodziak hasn’t played in any games for Edmonton this year and has been on the LTIR all season.
