Flyers re-sign Giroux for three more years

The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed versatile forward Claude Giroux to a three-year extension.  This deal will kick in next year and be good for a 3.75 million cap hit, hitting 5 million in actual salary during his final year.

Clearly the Flyers know what they have with the 22-year-old.  Over his first 15 games, Giroux has produced 14 points and is on pace to top his career high of 49 points, set last season.

Signing the deal should keep his confidence level high as the season progresses.  If last year’s playoffs– where he delivered 21 points in 23 games– are any indicator, Giroux has the potential to hit 70-80 points a year.  When looking at the terms of the deal, the Flyers definitely feel that way.
