Fredrik Modin signs with Atlanta Thrashers

Fredrik Modin will officially sign with the Atlanta Thrashers on a deal believed to be one year.  After 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs the 36-year-old likely could not land an official job until the market waned.

We were foolishly optimistic of Modin on the Kings but were spurned by his measly five points in 20 games.  On a “win-now” Thrashers team which honestly looks a bit light on proven talent, he may see Slava Kozlov value at best – the aged Kozlov we saw last year.
