Gaborik Opts for Surgery; Out 6 Months

Things usually get pretty quiet around the fantasy world once the league narrows down to its final two teams but this news cannot be ignored.  NHL.com reports that Marian Gaborik suffered a torn rotator cuff in the first round vs. Ottawa and continued to re-aggravate it as the round went on.  Gaborik continued to play despite the injury and only managed to put up 11 points in 20 playoff games.  Gaborik has elected to undergo bunion surgery to repair the tear and will miss up to 6 months.

The fantasy implication here is that the oft-injured Gaborik will fall deep in drafts and could come at a bargain if you are willing to stash him until December.  Gaborik managed to play all 82 games this season and racked up 41 goals and 76 points.
