Andrei Markov returning; paired with PK Subban

UPDATED 10/30/10 @ 11:53 AM:  According to Arpon Basu of NHL.com, Markov will indeed return to the lineup tonight and be paired with rookie PK Subban.  Should be an excellent game as the Habs look for their fifth consecutive win; ride this streaky team while you can.

According to a statement from the Montreal Canadians, defenseman Andrei Markov will return this weekend.

Coach Jacques Martin has avoided rushing the defenseman back, but after several good practices with the team, Martin believes that Markov is ready.

As you may recall, Markov was injured during the playoffs last season and required season ending surgery to repair torn knee ligaments.  Prior to the injury last season, Markov collected 34 points over 45 regular season games.

With Markov out, the Habs’ lines have looked like this. Rookie P.K. Subban, who made a name for himself during last year’s playoffs, has played nicely this season.  Both Markov and Subban should continue to receive ice time during the power play.

Be sure to check back this weekend, as we’ll have the updated lines for the Canadians as soon as we receive them.
