The Red Wings recalled Zach Aston-Reese from Grand Rapids (AHL).
Aston-Reese has spent most of the season in Grand Rapids, posting five goals and six assists (11 points) in 26 AHL games. He could play his second game for the Red Wings on Tuesday.
Merzlikins (illness) returned to practice on Monday.
Merzlikins got the win on Friday but was not available for Saturday's game in Buffalo due to illness. Returning to practice on Monday sets Merzlikins up for a start Tuesday vs. the Bruins.
Lankinen (illness) returned to practice on Monday.
Lankinen missed Friday and Saturday's game with an illness, but was back at practice on Monday. With no back-to-back this week, it unclear if Lankinen will get a start until next week.
Fast is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.
Fast took a high hit from Noah Gregor on Friday and did not return to the game. Fast was not on the ice for Monday's practice and will miss some time. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour did not a timeline for Fast's return.
Carrier (undisclosed) will draw back into the Golden Knights lineup for the Winter Classic.
Carrier missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury but will draw back into the lineup on Monday. Carrier has scored five goals with two assists (seven points) in 31 games this season.
Dennis Hildeby has been recalled from Toronto (AHL).
With Ilya Samsonov clearing waivers and being assigned to Toronto (AHL) earlier this week, Dennis Hildeby has earned his first career NHL call-up from the Marlies. The 22-year-old was Toronto's 2022 fourth-round pick (122th overall) and had an impressive 7-5-3 record, .919 SV% and 2.20 GAA with the Marlies (AHL) in 2023-24 prior to his call up.

The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
