Sorokin starts Game 2 in Carolina.

Sorokin took the hard-luck loss in Game 1 after stopping 35 of 37 shots (.946 SV%) in a tight 2-1 loss to Carolina but will get a shot at redemption for Game 2 on Wednesday. The 27-year-old will look to build off his 4-2-0 career playoff record, where he has a .925 SV% and 2.69 GAA. He will take on the Carolina Hurricanes, who held true to their form in Game 1 after finishing the regular season third in the NHL in shots per game (34.8).

Nikolaj Ehlers day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is not likely to play Thursday.

Ehlers' missed the Jets' final game of the season and Game 1 of the playoffs due to an upper-body injury and is unlikely to dress for Game 2 Thursday vs. Vegas as he is day-to-day. The 27-year-old ended his 2022-23 regular season with 12 goals, 38 points, 132 SOG, 11 PIMs and a -2 plus/minus through 45 games prior to his injury.

Dominic Toninato has signed a two-year, $775,000 contract extension.

Toninato had an assist, seven SOG, and two PIMs through five games with Winnipeg this season and has signed a two-year, $775,000 contract extension Wednesday. The 29-year-old has played in 169 career NHL games, picking up 30 points (12G/18A) and 73 PIMs.

Jake Oettinger is expected to start Game 2 Wednesday vs. Minnesota.

Oettinger stopped 45 of 48 shots (.938 SV%) in Game 1 for a tough overtime loss as he was downed by Minnesota on Monday. The 24-year-old has incredible career playoff numbers, with his .953 SV%, 1.72 GAA and 3-5-0 record. He takes on the Wild for Game 2 Thursday, who finished the regular season sixth in the NHL in goals against per game (2.67) and followed suit by winning Monday 3-2.

Jake Oettinger
Oskar Sundqvist is expected to draw back into the Wilds' lineup Wednesday (lower-body) for Game 2.

Sundqvist has been out since April 6th due to a lower-body injury but will make his Minnesota Wild playoff debut Wednesday. The 29-year-old finished his 2022-23 regular season with 10 goals, 18 assists, 69 SOG, 28 PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through 67 games between Minnesota and Detroit.

Jack Johnson is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

Johnson missed Game 1 as a late scratch due to an undisclosed injury and is now considered day-to-day for the time being. The 36-year-old was replaced by Erik Johnson in the Avalanche's lineup for Colorado's first game. He had two goals, eight points and a -15 plus/minus through 83 games with Colorado and Chicago this season.

Tanner Jeannot will be a game-time decision Thursday for Game 2 vs. Toronto (lower-body).

Jeannot has been out since April 6th due to a lower-body injury but is a game-time decision to return to Tampa Bay's lineup Thursday for Game 2 vs. Toronto. The 25-year-old finished his 2022-23 regular season with six goals, 12 assists, 107 SOG, 107 PIMs and a -7 plus/minus through 76 games with Tampa Bay and Nashville and will make a huge addition to their lineup when he returns.

Victor Hedman will be a game-time decision Thursday for Game 2 vs. Toronto (undisclosed).

Hedman left Game 1 with an undisclosed injury after just 6:35 TOI and will be a game-time decision Thursday for Game 2 as he deals with an undisclosed injury. If the 32-year-old is forced to miss any of the series it will be a massive loss for Tampa Bay, as he has 156 NHL playoff games under his belt across 10 seasons.

Michael Eyssimont will be out for Game 2 Thursday vs. Toronto (undisclosed).

Eyssimont left Game 1 after just 5:13 TOI due to an undisclosed injury and will be out Thursday for Game 2. The 26-year-old had five goals, 10 assists, 124 SOG, 73 PIMs and a +3 plus/minus through 54 games between Winnipeg, San Jose, and Winnipeg during the regular season.

Erik Cernak will be out for Game 2 Thursday due to an undisclosed injury.

Cernak had to leave Game 1 Tuesday after taking a high hit from Toronto's Michael Bunting after just 9:27 TOI and will be out Thursday for Game 2. The 25-year-old is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and will hopefully be back at some point in the first round.

Stuart Skinner will start Game 2 Wednesday vs. Los Angeles.

Skinner allowed four goals on 35 shots (.886 SV%) in Game 1 to pick up the overtime loss as they were down 4-3 by Los Angeles on Monday. The 24-year-old had a great rookie regular season, going 29-14-5 with a .914 SV% and 2.75 GAA through 48 starts. He will take on the Kings in Game 2, who finished the regular season with the fourth-best power play in the NHL (25.3).

Ilya Samsonov will start Game 2 vs. Tampa Bay Thursday.

Samsonov allowed six goals on 29 shots (.793 SV%) for one of his toughest losses of the season as he was downed by Tampa Bay in Game 1. The 26-year-old had a great first regular season in Toronto, with his 27-10-5 record, .919 SV% and 2.33 GAA. He will be hoping for better results in Game 2 against the Lightning, who finished the regular season eighth in the NHL in goals per game (3.41).

Joe Pavelski is out for Game 2 vs. Minnesota (Concussion).

Pavelski exited Monday's game vs. Minnesota after just 10:08 TOI due to an undisclosed injury after taking a large hit from Matt Dumba which resulted in a roughing penalty and is expected to be out for Game 2 as he remains in concussion protocol. The 38-year-old's absence will be a massive loss as he finished his regular season with 28 goals, 77 points, 184 SOG, 13 PIMs and a +27 plus/minus through 77 games.

Joel Kiviranta is expected to draw back into the Stars' lineup for Game 2.

Kiviranta had eight goals, one assist, 85 SOG, 40 PIms and a -9 plus/minus through 70 games during the regular season and will draw back into the Stars' lineup for Game 2 after being a healthy scratch in Dallas' first playoff game. The 27-year-old is expected to play on the fourth line and will be replacing Joe Pavelski in the Stars' lineup.

Mattias Janmark (undisclosed) is expected to be out for Game 2 and likely the entire first round.

Janmark played 14:52 TOI in Game 1, picking up an assist, two SOG and a +1 plus/minus but is now expected to be out for Game 2 after blocking a shot last game and limping off the ice. The 30-year-old is considered day-to-day for the time being after having a solid 2022-23 regular season where he picked up 10 goals, 25 points and +9 plus/minus through 66 games.
