Ullmark will get the nod for Boston as they head to Washington for their season opener Wednesday night. The 29-year-old posted career highs in wins (26), GAA (2.45) and SV% (.917) in 2021-22 before losing the starting spot with a weak playoff showing. Coach Jim Montgomery has announced that Boston will likely rotate Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman for the first four games of the season.

For the second straight season, Grubauer will lead the Seattle Kraken between the pipes to start the year. The German netminder will bel looking to bounce back after a terrible first season in Seattle which saw him finish with a league-worst SV% (.899) and career-worst Win% as well as GAA (3.16). The 10-year veteran hopes to return to the career .914 SV% with a hot start against the Ducks.

Gibson enters his 10th NHL season as the starter against the Seattle Kraken Wednesday night. The 29-year-old has failed to achieve a better than .904 SV% in any of his previous three seasons while only finishing below a 3.00 GAA only once in those three years. He will look to add a win in the stat column right out of the gate as the veteran struggled to come by them a season ago (18 wins in 56 GS).

Cam Atkinson is out tomorrow vs New Jersey according to John Tortorella

Atkinson continues to battle an unspecified injury that caused the 33-year-old to miss all of the Flyers' six preseason games. The right winger is coming off a resurgent 2021-22 which saw him place second on the Flyers in both goals (23) and points as he passed the 50-point plateau for the fourth time in his 11-year career.

Jacob Markstrom will miss practice Thursday due to an illness

Calgary has announced that their prized starter is out with an illness and will not practice Thursday morning. Markstrom is coming off a massive 2021-22 season which saw him finish second in Vezina voting behind only Igor Shesterkin. The 32-year-old netminder finished fourth in wins (37), third in save percentage (.922), and third in GAA (2.22) across the entire NHL. The Flames will hope to have their all-start goaltender back as soon as possible with Dan Vladar manning the crease in the meantime.

Yamamoto (undisclosed) is not expected to play on Wednesday.

Yamamoto skated once again this morning but did not take part in line rushes, and it appears as if he'll be scratched for the Oilers' season opener. Jesse Puljujarvi will skate on the top line, and Devin Shore was recalled from the AHL to take his place in the lineup.

Jonas Johansson was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche after being placed on Waivers by Arizona Tuesday

The 27-year-old Swedish netminder returns to the Colorado Avalanche just weeks after being waived and subsequently claimed by Arizona originally. He has struggled in his previous two seasons with the Avalanche amassing a .895 SV% and 2.90 GAA through 17 games played. Due to the Avs reclaiming Johansson, he is eligible to be sent down to the Colorado Eagles of the AHL.

Mrazek draws a terrible matchup in his inaugural game with the Blackhawks, matching up against previous Stanley Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche and their high-flying offence. Mrazek joins Chicago from Toronto after a terrible 2021-22 season which saw him waived after posting a .888 SV% and 3.34 GAA on one of the league's top teams.

Andersen will expectedly take the crease for Carolina's opening game against division rival Columbus on Wednesday night. The 33-year-old enjoyed an extremely successful first campaign in Carolina as he was one of the best goalies in the league in 2021-22, finishing seventh in Wins (35), second in GAA (2.17) and third in SV% (.922) on way to finishing fourth in Vezina voting.

Georgiev will get his first start as a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Colorado Avalanche Wednesday in Chicago. The Avalanche's new netminder will draw the first start of back-to-back games as the Avalanche play Calgary on Thursday. The 26-year-old will be looking to prove he deserves the fantasy rich number one spot in Colorado after posting a .898 SV% while backing up with the Rangers in 2021-22.

Jack Campbell will start his tenure as the Oilers' starting goalie Wednesday when he takes on division rivals Vancouver. The 30-year-old joins his third team in seven seasons after finishing 11th in Wins (31) in 2021-22 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also enjoyed a 2.64 GAA alongside his .914 SV%. He will look to get Edmonton back in the win column as they hope to return to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season.

Bobrovsky will start the Panthers' season opener on Thursday.

Bobrovsky will lead the Panthers on opening night as they take on the Islanders in New York. Bobrovsky tied Andrei Vasilevskiy for the league lead in wins (39) in 2021-22 while getting 53 starts for the President's Trophy (122 Pts) winners in Florida who also led all NHL teams in goals for (337). His .913 SV% was his highest totals in three seasons.

Oshie suffered an upper-body injury in last week's preseason game vs. the Red Wings but is good to go for Washington's season opener vs. the Bruins. Oshie, who is expected to skate on a line with Lars Eller and Marcus Johansson, had 11 goals and 14 assists (25 points) in 44 games last season.
