The Red Wings have placed Givani Smith (undisclosed) on IR.
Smith has missed the last two games and was moved to IR to make room for Joe Hicketts to be recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL). Smith is eligible to return whenever he is healthy.
Helm (lower-body) is questionable to play on Thursday.
Helm was forced to leave Tuesday's game vs. the Senators but could play in Columbus on Thursday. If Helm can't play, look for the Red Wings to go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

Green (upper-body) is expected to miss the next two games.
Green left Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury and is expected to miss their two-game road-trip in Columbus and New Jersey. Joe Hicketts was recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) and is expected to replace Green on Thursday.
Nemeth (infection) travelled on the Red Wings' two-game road-trip; could play Saturday.
Nemeth got an infection from blocking a shot vs. the Golden Knights and is expected to miss his fifth straight game on Thursday. Nemeth is hopeful he can return to the lineup in New Jersey on Saturday.
Line Change
Nash will be a healthy scratch on Thursday.
With Nick Foligno returning from a suspension, Nash will serve as a healthy scratch vs. the Red Wings. Nash has just one assist in his last nine games.
Line Change
Foligno has served his three-game suspension and will play vs. the Red Wings.
Foligno will replace Riley Nash in his return to the lineup and will look to get things going offensively. Foligno has scored just one goal with six assists in 17 games this season.

The Blues signed Troy Brouwer to a one-year, two-way deal.
Brouwer was in St. Louis on a PTO but with Sammy Blais going down for at least 10 weeks, they elected to sign the veteran winger to a one-year deal. Brouwer was last with the Florida Panthers, where he had 12 goals and nine assists (21 points) in 75 games in 2018-19.
Blais will undergo surgery on his right wrist and will miss at least 10 weeks.
Blais suffered the injury during the Blues' 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. Blais will be re-evaluated in 10 weeks, which means he could miss more than two and a half months. To replace Blais, the Blues announced that they've signed veteran Troy Brouwer to a one-year deal.
The Wild recalled Kaapo Kahkonen from Iowa (AHL) under emergency conditions.
Devan Dubnyk missed Wednesday's practice for personal reasons, so Kahkonen comes up and will likely serve as Alex Stalock's backup on Thursday.
