With Mark Kastelic (upper body) sidelined, Boston has recalled Poitras from the Providence Bruins (AHL). The 20-year-old Poitras began the season in Boston but has spent the latter half in the AHL, tallying 20 points (8G / 12A) in 23 games with Providence.

Kastelic signed a three-year, $4.701 million contract extension on January 3rd and was injured less than a week later. The heavy-hitting 6'4 forward is averaging 11:19 time-on-ice, recording 12 points (4G / 8A) and 167 hits in 43 games this season.

McAvoy (undisclosed) has been placed on IR retroactive to January 11th.

McAvoy played 21:54 in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins, recording an assist, but will be sidelined for at least a week due to an undisclosed ailment. The 27-year-old McAvoy is averaging 23:41 time-on-ice but is having an off season offensively, scoring 20 points (5G / 15A) in 45 games.

Hogberg was excellent in the Islanders' 2-1 win over the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday, saving 21 of 22 shots (.955 SV%), and will return to the crease on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. The 30-year-old Hogberg has been excellent in limited action this season, posting a 1.56 GAA and .950 SV% in four appearances (1-1-0). The Islanders enter Tuesday's contest as -114 home favorites against a Senators club outscoring their opposition 8-2 during a two-game winning streak.

Heineman (upper-body) was "involved in a traffic accident yesterday as a pedestrian" on Monday and is expected to be out for 3-4 weeks.

An unfortunate incident will keep Heineman out of the lineup for three-to-four weeks. The 23-year-old has been impressive in his rookie season, averaging 11:09 time-on-ice and scoring 17 points (10G / 7A) in 41 games.

Thompson has undoubtedly been the Capitals' best goalie, and despite being in a timeshare with Charlie Lindgren most of the season, he will start for the fourth straight game on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Thompson was tremendous in his most recent outing, saving 32 of 33 shots (.970 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators. He has an impressive 2.32 GAA and .919 SV% in 23 games this season (18-2-3). The Capitals enter Tuesday's contest as significant -255 home favorites against an Anaheim Ducks squad coming off an impressive 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Tarasov has returned from a conditioning stint with the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) and will tend the twine for the Blue Jackets on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 25-year-old Tarasov played reasonably in a two-game stint in the AHL (1-1-0), posting a 2.96 GAA and .908 SV%. He has a 4.23 GAA and .857 SV% in 10 appearances with the Blue Jackets this season (3-6-1). The Blue Jackets enter Tuesday's contest as slight -103 home underdogs against a Flyers club that defeated the Florida Panthers 4-3 last night.
