NHL Hockey Player News

DeSmith was the first goalie off of the ice at the Penguins morning skate.

DeSmith allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Penguins loss to Vancouver on October 16th. DeSmith went 1-0-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .922 SV% in three starts while Matt Murray was on the shelf with a concussion. Tonight he gets another crack at the Canucks and should have plenty of goal-support from a red-hot surrounding cast.

Casey DeSmith
Saros leads the Predators onto the ice for warmups.

Saros allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Predators win in New Jersey on Thursday. It was a nice bounce-back performance from Saros, who allowed five goals against the Sharks on Tuesday. This afternoon he faces an Oilers team that he posted a 31-save shutout against last Saturday.

Juuse Saros
Price will likely start Saturday in Boston.

Price made 21 saves on 23 shots in the Canadiens win over the Flames on Tuesday. Price was given a breather with Antti Niemi starting on Thursday, so look for him to be between the pipes tonight in Boston. Price has alternated wins and losses in his first six starts, posting a 2.48 GAA and .906 SV% in the process.

Carey Price
Boeser (groin) is expected to return to the Canucks lineup on Saturday.

Boeser missed the last two games with a groin injury, but is expected to play tonight vs. the Penguins. Boeser skated on the top line with Elias Pettersson and Nikolay Goldobin at the morning skate and returns to the lineup with six points (2G / 4A) in nine games.

Brock Boeser
Copley will start Saturday afternoon in Calgary.

Copley stopped 18 of 19 shots after replacing Braden Holtby in the Capitals shootout loss to the Panthers on October 19th. In his first start of the season, Copley allowed six goals on 36 shots in a loss in New Jersey. Today he faces a Flames team that has lost three of their last four while being outscored 18-to-10.

Pheonix Copley
Markstrom will likely start Saturday vs. the Penguins.

Markstrom stopped 33 of 35 shots in the Canucks win in Vegas on Wednesday. Markstrom has now won two straight while stopping 63 of the 66 shots (.955 SV%) As good as Markstrom has been in recent games, he has a terrible matchup tonight vs. the red-hot Penguins.

Jacob Markstrom
Hellebuyck will likely start Saturday in Toronto.

Hellebuyck gave up four goals on 39 shots in the Jets loss to Toronto on Wednesday. Laurent Brossoit started in Detroit last night, so look for Hellebuyck to start tonight against the Maple Leafs again. Hellebuyck is 1-2-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .916 SV% on the road this season.

Connor Hellebuyck
Crawford will start Saturday in St. Louis.

Crawford stopped 18 of 19 shots in the Blackhawks win over the Rangers on Thursday. Crawford has won three straight games while stopping 79 of 82 shots (.963 SV%) and will start again tonight in St. Louis. Crawford has been great since returning to the crease and is a solid option against a struggling Blues squad, with a coach on the hot seat.
