Smith stopped all 43 shots that he faced in the Flames shutout win in Nashville on Tuesday. Smith has had an inconsistent start to the season, allowing a combined eight goals on 85 shots (.906 SV%) in his first three games of the year. He’s a risky option in St. Louis. The Blues are deep and talented, but have struggled defensively to start the season.
Varlamov allowed two goals on 37 shots in Colorado’s win over the Flyers on Saturday. Varlamov has won his first two starts, stopping 55 of 58 shots (.948 SV%) against the Wild and Flyers. He draws a healthy matchup tonight in Buffalo—the Sabres are averaging just 2.33 goals for through three games so far.
Rinne allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Predators loss to the Flames on Tuesday. Rinne has started the season at 1-1-0 with a 2.50 GAA and .921 SV% in his first two starts. Things don’t get any easier tonight with the Jets in town—however Rinne was 3-1-0 with a 3.52 GAA and .901 SV% against Winnipeg last season.
Larsson missed the first three games of the season but will replace Remi Elie on the third line tonight. The 26-year-old had just 17 points (4G / 13A) in 80 games last season.
Johnson missed the Lightning’s season opener on Saturday but will play tonight vs. the Canucks. Johnson will play on the second line with Brayden Point and Yanni Gourde.
Pionk is a minus-3 while averaging 19:15 TOI/GM in his first three games of the season. Fredrik Claesson will draw in and replace Pionk vs. the Sharks.
During his first season with the Canucks, Nilson was 7-14-4 with a 3.44 GAA and .901 SV% in 27 appearances. Nilsson is a netminder with a career 3.07 GAA and .907 SV%, so it is hard to trust him in fantasy—especially against a Lightning team with one of the best offences in the NHL.
Dell allowed two goals on 33 hots in the Sharks win in Philadelphia on Tuesday. After a great start, the Sharks will go right back to Dell tonight in New York. He was solid on the road last year, going 9-2-3 with a 2.76 GAA and .915 SV% in 15 road appearances.
Shattenkirk has had a rough start to the season and played just 7:29 TOI on Sunday. Shattenkirk is a minus-4 with 10 shots on goal in three games. He will be replaced by Tony DeAngelo at 5v5 and on the top power-play unit.
Nordstrom has played in two games this season, recording three shots on goal while averaging 14:22 TOI/GM. Tonight he will replace Ryan Donato on the Bruins second line.
Donato was a minus-2 in 12:56 TOI on Monday and has just one goal in his first three games of the season. Donato will sit tonight with Joakim Nordstrom taking his spot on the second line and Anders Bjork playing on the top power-play unit.
Halak stopped all 32 shots that he faced in the Bruins shutout win in Buffalo last Thursday. It was an excellent first start for the veteran netminder, who will start again tonight with Tuukka Rask struggling a bit to start the season. The Oilers looked bad in their first game, but a Connor McDavid led team is always dangerous.
Allen allowed five goals on 30 shots in the Blues overtime loss to the Blackhawks last Saturday. Allen has had a terrible start to the season, allowing 10 goals on 55 shots (.818 SV%) in his first two starts. Tonight he faces a Flames team that is scoring 4.00 goals for per game so far.
Andersen allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Maple Leafs win in Dallas on Tuesday. Despite allowing a combined 10 goals on 93 shots (.892 SV%) in his first three starts, the Maple Leafs offence has carried Andersen to a 2-1-0 record. He is a must-start against a Red Wings team that is still searching for their first win of the season.
Dubnyk stopped 41 of 42 shots in the Wild’s overtime loss to Vegas on Saturday. Despite stopping an impressive 77 of 80 shots (.963 SV%) in his first two starts, Dubnyk is still searching for his first victory of the season. Tonight he takes on a Blackhawks team that he was 3-1-0 with a 1.01 GAA, .974 SV% and one shutout against last season.
Murray has been ruled out for tonight’s game against Vegas, but the fact that he is already on the ice is good news. It is hard to pinpoint a timeline when dealing with a concussion, but it doesn’t look like Murray will be out long-term.
Reimer allowed one goal on 16 shots after replacing Roberto Luongo in the Panthers’ shootout loss last Saturday. With Luongo out, Reimer will take over as Florida’s No.1 netminder going forward. Tonight the Panthers host a Blue Jackets team that is 2-1-0 while averaging 3.00 goals for in their first three games.
Korpisalo stopped 18 of 20 shots in the Blue Jackets win in Detroit last Thursday. Bobrovsky recorded a win over the Avalanche on Tuesday, but the Blue Jackets will go with Korpisalo in Florida tonight. The 24-year-old was 2-6-1 with a 4.11 GAA and .872 SV% on the road last season.
