Nichushkin took part in the Stars morning skate on Tuesday and is expected to make his season debut tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. The 23-year-old has not played in the NHL since the 2015-16 season, but scored 27 goals and 24 assists (51 points) in 86 KHL games since then.
The Kings have announced that goaltender Jonathan Quick is probably closer to week-to-week than day-to-day, which means they will turn to Jack Campbell and Peter Budaj as their goaltending tandem for at least the next couple of weeks. Campbell had a strong showing in his first start and makes for a solid replacement while Quick is sidelined.

The Stars have had a great start to the season, so Andersen is a risky start on the road—he was 15-13-3 with a 3.00 GAA and .910 SV% in 31 starts on the road last year.
Smith allowed four goals on 20 shots in the Flames win over the Canucks on Saturday. Smith faced Vancouver in his first two starts of the season, allowing a combined eight goals on 42 shots (.810 SV%). It has been a rough start to the season for Smith, who is a risky start in Nashville—the Predators are 2-0-0 while scoring seven goals in their first two games.
Hellebuyck allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Jets 5-1 loss in Dallas on Saturday. It was a completely different result from his first start of the season, when he stopped 41 of 42 shots in a win in St. Louis. Tonight he will make his first start on home-ice, where he was 30-5-2 with a 2.31 GAA, .921 SV% and four shutouts last year.
Anderson allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Senators win in Toronto on Saturday. The veteran netminder stole this one for Ottawa and will get back between the pipes tonight after getting Monday afternoon off. Anderson will face the Flyers, who are 1-2-0 while averaging 3.00 goals per game so far.
Kempny skated with John Carlson during Tuesday’s practice and will play Wednesday vs. the Golden Knights. Kempny had 10 points (3G / 7A) in 53 games a season ago.
Eakin landed on injured reserve to open the season but was back on the ice in a regular jersey for Tuesday’s practice. This is the next step in Eakin’s return to the Golden Knights lineup, but he remains questionable for Wednesday and Thursday’s back-to-back.
Landeskog missed Monday’s practice but was on the ice for Tuesday’s morning skate and will play tonight in Columbus. Landeskog has one goal, one assist, a plus-3 rating and two shots on goal in the first two games of the season.
Hayton, 18, was the No.5 overall pick in this summer’s draft and made the Coyotes out of training camp but did not appear in either of their first two games. Hayton returns to the OHL, where he had 21 goals and 39 assists (60 points) in 63 games with the Greyhounds.
Del Zotto failed to record a point while playing 20:59 TOI/GM through the first two games of the season. On Tuesday he will come out of the lineup so Ben Hutton can make his season debut.
Motte scored one goal on two shots with a plus-1 rating in his first two games of the season, but will come out for Tim Schaller on Tuesday.

Bishop is off to an excellent start to the season, going 2-0-0 while allowing just one goal on 63 shots (.984 SV%) in his first two starts. Despite a great start, Bishop runs into a brutal matchup tonight with the Maple Leafs in town—they’re averaging 4.33 goals for per game so far.
Markstrom allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Canucks loss in Calgary on Saturday. Markstrom faced the Flames in his first two starts of the season, allowing a combined seven goals on 70 shots (.900 SV%). Tonight he faces a Hurricanes team that is 2-0-1 and averaging 4.00 goals per game so far.
The Penguins do not play until Thursday, but it seems unlikely that Murray will be available after being diagnosed with a concussion. The Penguins are expected to provide an update on their goalie’s status following Tuesday’s practice session.
